THE LEMON HOUSE OF MASSERIA DIRUPO IS READY
If you read the title of this post and you immediately thought of something strange, it means that you know little about the species of lemons. Here in Masseria Dirupo we finished the construction of our lemon house and all the trees are well lined up, one next to the other. What kind of lemons we planted? This is an excellent question, because there are lemons… and lemons!
The specie Femminiello del Gargano IGP is a species that has obtained the European registration with EC Regulation 148 of 15/02/2007, and is a 100% Apulian fruit as well as the oldest lemon of Italy! The production area includes the whole territory of the municipalities of Vico del Gargano, Ischitella and Rodi Garganico, but now is also produced in Noci (BA) in our Masseria! The skin is smooth, with a light yellow color and it is very thin.
The Meyer Lemon (Citrus meyeri) is native to China. It is a natural hybrid of lemon (Citrus limon) and sweet orange (Citrus sinensis). The fruits are similar to those of the lemon but are very rich of juice and are less bitter. In addition to the fruits, it is appreciated for its ornamental value.
The conclusion is obvious: if you want a lemonade and you do not know which way to turn, to Masseria Dirupo you have to go.
